Reshaping Abstraction

Katrina Sanchez’s latest series - presented by Concord Art and Abigail Ogilvy Gallery

An exhibition featuring a selection of artwork embracing non-representation through painting, sculpture, and hybrids of both.

The exhibition celebrates a spirit of vitality and the “radical act [it is] to be joyful and buoyant against a world that has so much difficulty—that’s the heart of it,” says curator Adria Arch. Arch sought “artists whose sensibility is lyrical, colorful, and thoroughly engaged with material… Sculptural approaches abound, characterized by the manipulation of painted wood, plastic, paper, unstretched canvas, and dyed yarn. Fresh, ambitious, and sassy, this work provides a space for engagement and release.”

The Playlist

“Creatives are influenced by everything in the environment, and often it’s other forms of art that spark creativity and inspiration in their practice. Music in particular has a powerful influence on mood, memory, mental health, and our daily practices.

In our next group show, "The Playlist", we asked 35+ artists to create a piece inspired by a single song. Each song selected by the artists will be played throughout the exhibition in this unique, immersive gallery experience at Hed Hi Studio.”
